Since its founding in 1899, SF State has unlocked doors, broadened opportunities, reinforced a determination to succeed, and expanded the field of vision for hundreds of thousands of students. Join us in commemorating this impressive heritage at SF State’s annual Founders Day celebration.
When is it?
This year’s Founders Day celebration will take place on Tuesday, March 15 from 11:30am – 2 pm on the Malcolm X Plaza. Everyone is welcome to participate in the festivities, during which Taqueria Girasol will give away 1,899 tacos.
How can you get involved?
Founders Day presents a great opportunity to show your Gator pride while supporting students today who are working hard to realize their dreams.
- Alumni, Friends and Everyone: Our goal is for 100 alumni and friends to make a monthly recurring gift of $18.99 to establish the 1899 Founders Day Scholarship Endowment Fund.
- Students: Founder’s Day marks the launch of 2016 Senior Class Gift challenge in support of the HOPE Fund, a loan fund that provides students with financial support in the event of an unexpected, personal crisis. You can make a gift to the HOPE Fund at any of the student organization tables participating in the Founder’s Day event on March 15. You can also represent your student organization at the event. Participating student organizations will be collecting coins (and dollars) that will be put towards the HOPE Fund, and you can join in on the effort with a gift online at www.gofundme.com/hopefundcrisisloan.
- Faculty & Staff: Faculty and staff giving serves as a measure of support and confidence for the university. Your secure and simple online gift or pledge to any scholarship, program, department, school or college, including your own, will be counted toward the $150 million goal for SF State’s comprehensive fundraising campaign, “BOLD. Thinking.” For a larger gift spread across multiple smaller deductions from your salary, simply use the Gift Pledge Payroll Deduction Authorization form.
- Parents & Family: Please consider giving to the Parent & Family Fund, to enhance the overall student and family experience through support of leadership and academic initiatives, internships and career services, and traditions such as Founders Day and Alumni & Family Weekend.
Your support means far more than the amount of your gift. The first gift of a current student or recent graduate is just as vital as the contributions from dedicated donors supporting SF State for over many decades, because all donations highlight the importance of a tradition of giving and inspire the entire SF State community.
